CAT 2018

The ( CAT 2018 ) Common Admission Test  is considered as one of the most competitive examinations that assess student’s Intelligence quotient, scholastic aptitude and problem-solving skills for admission to MBA courses. It is a national-level examination conducted by 20 IIMs (Indian Institutes of Management) on a rotational basis. Apart from IIMs, the CAT score is accepted for admission in more than 100 management institutions.

 CAT 2018 Latest Notification: The Common Admission Test (CAT) 2018 admit cards have been made available on the official website on 24th October 2018 from 1:00 PM. The last date to download the same is 25th November 2018. Candidates can log-in at the official website with their registered ID and password to download the admit card. Take a print-out of the admit card. It is mandatory to carry the admit card/hall ticket to the examination venue for making entry to the examination hall.

CAT 2018 Exam Pattern & Syllabus

CAT 2018 Exam Pattern:

The candidates appearing in the Common Admission Test will face 75 MCQs and 25 non-MCQs, carrying 100 marks. Questions will be asked from 3 important sections –

  1. Section I: Verbal ability & reading comprehension
  2. Section II: Data interpretation & logical reasoning
  3. Section III: Quantitative ability

The duration of the test will be 3 hours.

CAT 2018 Exam Eligibility

Educational Qualification –

  • An applicant must hold a Bachelor’ Degree with 50% marks (SC/ST/PWD candidates must possess 45% marks)
  • If a candidate is in the final year or is waiting for the results, he is eligible for the exam. If selected, such candidates need to produce a certificate from the Principal of their Institution, which would state that they are eligible for obtaining the Degree or equivalent certificate.
  • In case, an applicant has done professional courses like ICWA, CS, CA, etc. with the required percentage (50%), he is certainly eligible for the entrance test.

Age Qualification: There is no the age limit for appearing in the Common Admission Test 2018.

Note: The Indian Institutes of Management may verify the eligibility of the candidates at any stage of the selection procedure. Hence, the aspirants are suggested to maintain a valid and active email ID and a phone number throughout the entire selection process for hassle-free communication.

Irrespective of the number of colleges that a student is applying, he is required to pay the application or registration fee only once.

CAT 2018 Exam Application Process

CAT 2018 registration has been started from 8th August and will close on 19th September 2018 26thSeptember 2018 (extended) till 5 PM . The application process will entirely be online. Interested candidates are suggested to visit the official web portal of CAT with all the essential documents such as scanned copies of signature, photograph, mark sheets of Class X, XII, Bachelor’s Degree, etc. The registration process is done in three steps –

  1. CAT registration
  2. Log in using system generated user ID and password
  3. Filling in CAT application form 2018

It comprises five important sections such as – Personal Details, Academics, Work Experience, Programmes and Payment.

  1. Personal Details: Here, the applicants need to provide details like their complete name, parent’ name, nationality, category, gender and address. They need to upload the scanned images of their signature, photograph and caste certificate.
  2. Academics: Provide your academic details right from class X till Masters. The details should include exam name, University or Board, maximum marks, marks obtained, etc.
  3. Work Experience: Have you worked for fulltime? If so, you need to enter the details right here. Remember, candidates with “only full-time experience after the graduation” are advised to enter the details.
  4. Programmes: Select your programmes and the Interview City name.
  5. Payment: Payment would be made online. General category candidates have to pay INR 1,900/-. Candidates belonging to reserved categories will pay INR 950/-.
